Der Bahnk\u00f6rper wird nun oftmals als eine st\u00f6rende Trennung zwischen der Innen- und der s\u00fcdlichen Stadt wahrgenommen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die H\u00f6herlegung der Gleise \u00fcber das Stra\u00dfenniveau waren aber enorm wichtige Bausteine beim Ausbau Krefelds zur \u201emodernen Stadt\u201c. Bevor die Br\u00fccken bebaut wurden, war das aber gar nicht m\u00f6glich. Denn die Eisenbahn verlief ebenerdig. Im S\u00fcden der Krefelder Innenstadt waren eine Vielzahl Gleis,  Rangierspuren, Drehscheiben, Reparaturwerkst\u00e4tten, und G\u00fcterschuppen entstanden. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Insbesondere zwei <strong>Bahn\u00fcberg\u00e4nge<\/strong> waren derartig durch Verkehr und st\u00e4ndigen Zugverkehr sowie Rangierfahrten belastet: Gladbacher Stra\u00dfe und die heutige K\u00f6lner Stra\u00dfe (Fischelner Stra\u00dfe). Bei der H\u00f6herlegung standen gewaltige Aufsch\u00fcttungsarbeiten und Befestigungsma\u00dfnahmen durch Mauerwerk und Br\u00fcckenbau an. 1907 wurde der neue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.industriekultur-krefeld.org\/index.php\/hauptbahnhof\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"401\">Hauptbahnhof<\/a> der Staatsbahn fertiggestellt. Das Geb\u00e4ude des <a href=\"https:\/\/www.industriekultur-krefeld.org\/index.php\/suedbahnhof\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"399\">S\u00fcdbahnhofs<\/a> der \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.industriekultur-krefeld.org\/index.php\/schluff\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"394\">Crefelder Eisenbahn<\/a>\u201c war in den Bahndamm hinein gebaut worden, gegen\u00fcber des
